Plans for recycling facilities in Pool to help increase recycling in Cornwall

SUEZ recycling and recovery UK is planning to make changes to its materials recycling facility and transfer station located on Wilson Way, Pool, Cornwall to enable improved recycling services across the county.

The materials recycling facility and transfer station, which have been in operation for many years, handle materials collected for recycling from homes and businesses in Cornwall. Changes to recycling and waste collections across the county are to be introduced next year and SUEZ is proposing to make changes to its facilities to accommodate the projected increase of materials brought to the site, including food waste.

In order to engage with local residents and businesses neighbouring the site about the plans, SUEZ held two webinar sessions.

You can watch the recording of the sessions here:

Wednesday 06 May 2020 –  session

Thursday 07 May 2020 – session

The main changes include:

  • Demolition of the existing office and welfare facilities and then a temporary (pre-fabricated) office and welfare building to be located within the storage yard.
  • Extension and development of the cleared area for an aluminium cans and plastics processing plant.
  • Construction of two new glass bays adjacent to the existing bays.
  • Provision of additional space for the food waste within the refuse transfer station building.
