Cornwall educators go behind the scenes at Bodmin Recycling Facility

On 08 July, educators from across Cornwall visited the Bodmin materials recycling facility (MRF) for a special event hosted by SUEZ recycling and recovery UK in partnership with Young Enterprise.

The day explored how enterprise education can be enriched with environmental themes like recycling and sustainability.

Highlights included a tour of the facility and a presentation from Newquay Tretherras students. Their Young Enterprise project involved repurposing plastic waste into products, which won the South West finals.

“It was brilliant to see everyone so engaged and excited about the potential for enterprise education linked to environmental themes,” said Ellie Denno from Young Enterprise. “Our collaboration with SUEZ allows us to make real-world learning come alive for the young people of Cornwall.”

Sarah Cotton, Community Liaison Manager SUEZ added: “We’re proud to offer educational tours at our facilities, helping people of all ages learn more about sustainability and career pathways in the recycling and environmental sector. Events like this show how industry and education can work together for a more sustainable future.”

Educators left inspired with new ideas to help young people develop green skills and career aspirations.
