Inspire pupils’ curiosity and fascination about new waste management strategies in Cornwall with a high quality educational visit to the Cornwall energy recovery centre.

  • Active sessions will engage pupils of all abilities as they investigate sustainability, energy and resource management topics.
  • A behind-the-scenes tour enables pupils to witness parts of the facility in action.
  • A team challenge encourages pupils to consider their environment and touches on contemporary geographical knowledge, linking with KS3 and GCSE.
  • KS2 pupils revisit recycling, reduce and reuse learning and develop an understanding of recovering energy from waste.

We can accommodate school groups of up to 30 pupils in the visitor centre and up to 10 adults on tours of the facility. The minimum age we can accommodate is seven. For more information, please visit our Educations activities page.

How to find us

The Cornwall energy recovery centre is located in central Cornwall, between St Austell and Newquay. The easiest way to get there is from the A30, which is the main trunk road running through the centre of the county.

  • From the A30 take the ‘HIGHGATE HILL’ A39 slip road to Newquay/St Dennis/Airport.
  • At the roundabout, exit on to the B3279.
  • After 200 yards, you will come to a roundabout. Take the exit marked Treviscoe and Parkandillick.
  • Continue along the road for two miles.
  • Just before you enter Treviscoe, you will see a turning to your left between high Cornish stone walls.

A few important details

The building has disabled toilets and lift access. We may also be able help with travel arrangements if required.
