Beach clean at Holywell Bay

Against the beautiful backdrop of the North Cornwall coast, an enthusiastic gathering of over 30 volunteers from our Cornwall team completed yet another successful beach clean at Holywell Bay in Newquay on Saturday 15 October.

This is the eighth beach clean held by SUEZ in Cornwall and we were very pleased to see so many volunteers giving up their time to collect litter. Many of the team were joined by friends and family. After avidly searching the beach we managed to collect eight black bags of waste, and a discarded drone that had landed in the sand dunes !
Previous beaches that the Cornwall team have cleaned include Black Rock, Long Rock, Polzeath, Mawgan Porth and Par beaches.

Community and Education Officer, Sarah Cotton commented: “Thank you to all the volunteers who gave up their time to take part in the event. The SUEZ beach clean has become a highlight of the calendar, attracting more and more volunteers at each event, including members of the public. The beach cleans continue to go from strength to strength !”

Senior Community Liaison Manager, Lisa Thompson commented: “It was fantastic to see so many people joining us on Saturday morning. It is so important that we keep our beaches and oceans clean. It’s vital that we look after Cornwall’s stunning natural capital.”

Our next beach clean event will be taking place in March, 2023. Watch this space !
