Connon Bridge HWRC supports the ‘Battling On’ charity

Support worker Janey Bryson was delighted when staff at Connon Bridge household waste and recycling centre (HWRC) stepped in to help her in finding free resources for the organisation Battling On, based at Merryhue Farm, based in Callington.

Having visited the training centre, she was quick to see an opportunity to reuse unwanted items thrown away by others, to make a real difference to the lives of those that visit the centre regularly.

Ryan Sleeman, Senior Site Manager at Connon Bridge HWRC who helped collect the resources said: “I’m really proud to do something like this for a such a worthy cause and it’s fantastic to see items like old tubs, trellis, and garden canes being given a second lease of life whilst helping the environment at the same time.”

Battling On is a Community Interest Company (CIC) established in 2012 to support members of the Armed Forces who are struggling to make the transition from military to civilian life, and now also supports some of Cornwall’s most vulnerable young people, through a variety of projects designed to help people suffering with mental health problems.

Rick Stead, Business Development Manager for Battling On said: “Without the support of companies like SUEZ we would be far less able to do what we do as successfully as we do. We’d like to thank the team at Connon Bridge for all their help.”
