Cornwall Students Celebrate Major Win at Young Enterprise County Finals

Year 13 Business students from Treviglas Academy have been crowned overall winners of the Cornwall Young Enterprise Company Programme 2026, following an outstanding performance at the Cornwall Young Enterprise County Finals Showcase, held at The Lost Gardens of Heligan.

The winning team, founders of Key to Cornwall, impressed judges with a well‑researched and highly developed business plan and their resilience under pressure during two rounds of questioning. Alongside being named Overall Winners, the team also secured awards for Best Use of Technology and Best Customer Service, highlighting both innovation and customer focus.

Business Mentor Sarah Cotton, Community Liaison Manager at SUEZ, who supported the students throughout the programme, said “The growth in confidence and professionalism I’ve seen over the course of the programme has been remarkable. Being part of their journey has been a fantastic experience, and this success is thoroughly deserved.”

The judges and sponsors, including SUEZ, all had the challenging job of recognising excellence across a range of categories, including sustainability.
The SUEZ sponsored Sustainability Award, recognising businesses that demonstrated strong environmental awareness and responsible decision making was presented by Mark Hillson, General Manager who served as a judge at the showcase.

“It was genuinely encouraging to see sustainability considered so thoughtfully by so many teams,” said Mark Hillson. “The Sustainability Award recognises young people who understand that environmental responsibility must sit at the heart of future businesses.”

Following their county success, Key to Cornwall will now progress to the Young Enterprise Regional Finals in May, marking a well‑deserved next step in their entrepreneurial journey.
