Putting waste to good use for our furry friends

Much like other charities, the RSPCA in Cornwall has struggled with organising fundraising activities during the pandemic and have turned to different ways of reaching out for support.

SUEZ staff at the household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) in Cornwall have joined efforts to support the RSPCA by asking residents and site users to bring unwanted pet items to the sites. They have been amazed at how much equipment has been collected in just a few weeks, which can now be repurposed to support the charity.

Ryan Sleeman, Senior Site Manager, who helped coordinate the collection across our Cornwall HWRCs, said: “Everyone has done an amazing job in taking the time to collect these items, it felt really good knowing that other people’s waste was going to be put to such good use.”

Emily Bowen, Branch Development Manager said: “We have really struggled with fundraising opportunities this year, so all the support you have given us is very much appreciated, the animals in our care will really benefit from this donation, thank you.”

If you are interested in donating items or would like to find out more about volunteering at the RSPCA, you can visit www.rspca-cornwall.org.uk/ or contact 01637 881455.
