SUEZ and Cornwall Council publish Managing Cornwall’s household waste
SUEZ and Cornwall Council have announced the publication of the second edition of Managing Cornwall’s household waste. This second annual report presents the results of the 2018-2019 contract year, during which more waste was diverted from landfill and residents have been able to recycle more materials at household waste recycling centres. The report also presents in six case studies how SUEZ and Cornwall Council have been working together on delivering Cornwall’s resource and waste strategy. Highlights of the report include:
- Over 97% of Cornwall’s household waste is now diverted from landfill
- 11 social value and community projects were supported during the contract year through our SITA Cornwall Trust
- A new biodiversity-focused plan was adopted for the restoration of the Connon Bridge landfill
- 2,997 visitors to the Cornwall energy recovery centre and Bodmin materials recycling facility
