A tonne of sweet thank-you’s for key workers in Cornwall
Yesterday (06 May 2020), SUEZ recycling and recovery UK delivered around a tonne of fudge and chocolate to NHS workers at Treslike Hospital in Truro, as well as all SUEZ sites across Cornwall, courtesy of local confectionery manufacturer, County Confectionery Ltd.
Due to the current lockdown, the confectionery manufacturer had some fresh, sweet treats which they wanted to donate to key workers, to thank them for all their hard work over the last couple of months.
As a result of the partnership effort, a tonne of fudge and many boxes of broken chocolate were picked up and brought to the materials recycling facility in Pool, Redruth. The team safely portioned it into smaller bags and boxes, before sending a van brimmed with sweet treats to the key workers, at the NHS hospital.
Danny Pearce, Sales Manager for Cornwall and Devon said: “We were thrilled to be able to sort and deliver some sweets to the NHS workers, and to our hard-working colleagues at other sites in the county. As key workers we are all helping keep the country going, to have this recognition from the public, and other businesses, is great. At SUEZ, we whole heartedly thank you. Thanks to the frontline and behind the scenes workers, who ensure the bins are emptied and the lights stay on. It was great to be able to share some of the sweet amongst healthcare staff and ourselves. Thank you to County Confectionery Ltd.”
Tara Easterling, from County Confectionery, said: “Throughout this pandemic we see the country going through, it was always in the back of all our minds to do something, for those that are working on the front line. We are grateful for everything and blessed we could do something to thank them.”
In addition, donations were made towards the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity to support their work in the local community.
