SUEZ employees join the challenge to tackle knife crime in Cornwall
In an inspiring show of community spirit, colleagues throughout the southwest at SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, have come together to raise funds for Mike’s Trust, a charity dedicated to educating young people about the dangers of knife crime.
Tickets for the Cornwall RFU friendly game against Exeter Chiefs, hosted at Sandy Park in Exeter were made available through a prize draw and raised over £700 for Mike’s Trust, which was set up in 2023 by the family of Michael Riddiough-Allen, following his death in Bodmin, in 2023 due to knife crime.
Rugby was one of Mike’s passion, and he was a positive, active member of the Cornish rugby community and so it was fitting that the cheque was presented to Becky, Mikes sister at the Bill Beaumont Cup game at Redruth RFC on Saturday 24 May 2025.
The Trust aims to educate young people about knife crime and works with local schools to share Mike’s story.
“We are proud to support such a meaningful cause that resonates deeply with our community,” said Dominic Cullip Senior Site Manager for SUEZ and close friend of Mikes. “By organising this rugby ticket event amongst our staff, we hope to have not only raised funds but also awareness about the important work that Mike’s Trust is doing to help young people in Cornwall to make safer choices.”
As a waste management company, SUEZ is committed not only to environmental sustainability but also to social responsibility. This fundraising initiative is part of a broader commitment to give back to the community and support local charities within the southwest.
