Championing Camelford Leisure Centre and investing in Wellness
SUEZ recycling and recovery UK is proud to announce its ongoing support with its recent donation of £1,000 to the Camelford Community Leisure Centre, aimed at enhancing recreational activities for residents of this rural community. This contribution underscores SUEZ’s commitment to supporting local initiatives that foster community engagement, health, and well-being.
This donation comes after previous support for the leisure centre through the SUEZ Communities Fund which was able to pay for the extension of a fitness suite and creation of a social area which provides a vital warm, welcoming space for members of the community where they can meet, keep warm in winter, have a coffee and even use hot showers if needed. With a focus on promoting physical fitness and community spirit, this recent donation along with a further £6,500 raised by the community will be match funded by Sport England and used to upgrade gym equipment at the leisure centre, making it a more inviting space for families and individuals to participate in various activities.
Rob Sanders, Regional Manager at SUEZ said: “We believe in giving back to the communities we serve. The Camelford Leisure Centre is a community run centre and plays a vital role in bringing people together, particularly in this rural part of Cornwall and we’re excited to continue to contribute to its growth and the wellbeing of its members. We hope this donation inspires others to get involved and support the centre.”
Centre Manager, Peter Hamilton, expressed his gratitude for the support: “We are incredibly thankful for this generous donation from SUEZ and look forward to continued support from the team using volunteer days to help with the maintenance of the centre. It will significantly impact our ability to provide quality programs and maintain our facilities. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where everyone in Camelford can enjoy healthy and engaging activities and I urge all residents to get involved in upcoming events and utilise the enhanced facilities that the donation will help create”
