Damage to the Cornwall energy recovery centre roof

In February, Cornwall Energy Recovery Limited appointed the independent cladding and roofing specialist, Michael Kilbey Associates to investigate the damage caused to the Cornwall energy recovery centre roof during the very high winds earlier this year, and to support with the necessary repairs.

Cornwall Council has appointed construction consultancy Mace to provide an independent oversight of Michael Kilbey Associates investigation and repair works.

The energy recovery centre completed its planned shutdown for annual maintenance on time and is fully operational.  Works by Michael Kilbey Associates and Mace have been progressing during the annual maintenance shutdown. The investigation and repairs will now continue as a priority but will be subject to the current government restrictions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

We expect that determining the cause of the damage will take some time owing to the COVID-19 restrictions and the complexity of the investigation itself, but we will update you on this as soon as we practically can.
