Helping Cornwall Grow

To celebrate Compost Awareness Week, SUEZ helped residents and young people discover the benefits of composting by offering free compost to the local community and supporting a school allotment project.

Residents were invited to St Erth or Connon Bridge recycling sites to collect a bag or bucket of high‑quality compost, produced by The Green Waste Company from locally recycled garden waste.

Alongside the community giveaway, SUEZ also worked with Archbishop Benson to enhance its allotment area by donating compost to help pupils grow various plants while learning first‑hand about sustainability, food production and the circular economy.

Sarah Cotton, Community Liaison Manager at SUEZ, said “Compost Awareness Week is a great opportunity to show how simple actions, like composting, can make a real difference. By giving residents free compost and supporting a school allotment, we’re helping people of all ages to see waste as a resource and encouraging greener choices in our community.”

Earlier this year, the school attended a tour of the Bodmin Materials Recycling Facility and has since been working on a range of waste reduction and sustainability initiatives.

Laura Turner, Teacher at Archbishop Benson added “The compost donation has made a huge difference to our allotment. The children are excited to continue learning about sustainability and have really enjoyed finding out how their waste is processed here in Cornwall.”
