FLICKA Donkey Sanctuary benefits from community volunteer days
FLICKA Donkey Sanctuary based in Penryn and founded by Mary Berryman in 1995 relies on the support of the public through donations and volunteers to provide a safe home for over 100 donkeys and horses, all of whom have been rescued from abuse, neglect and abandonment.
Briana Pascoe the Charity Manager has been delighted by the ongoing support SUEZ recycling and recovery UK have been able to provide through their workplace volunteer days. The SUEZ team based in St Dennis have been volunteering over the last two years, mending fences, clearing out stables, feeding the donkeys and carrying our general maintenance.
“Volunteering at our sanctuary is a truly rewarding experience,” said Lisa Adams, Admin Manager at SUEZ. “Not only do the volunteers have the chance to interact with the lovely donkeys, but they also play a vital role in maintaining the sanctuary and ensuring the best possible care for these animals.”
“Our donkeys have endured difficult pasts, and the care and attention they receive from our volunteers is truly transformative,” said Briana Pascoe the Charity Manager. “By dedicating their time and energy, our volunteers become an integral part of the sanctuary’s work, helping to create a safe and nurturing environment for these incredible animals.”
The volunteer days are open to individuals of all ages and backgrounds, and no prior experience with donkeys is necessary. Each volunteer plays a crucial role in making a difference at the sanctuary and of the rescued donkeys.
