Local SUEZ Waste Warriors wade through mud to raise money for Cancer Research UK

A local team of employees from SUEZ recycling and recovery UK came together to participate in this year’s Plymouth Pretty Muddy 5km run, all in the name of charity. The all-female team, named the Waste Warriors, successfully completed the challenging obstacle course in under an hour for a very worthy cause.

The Plymouth Pretty Muddy 5km run, known for its gruelling obstacles and muddy terrain, proved to be a test of endurance and determination for the team. But their commitment to raising the money for charity kept them motivated every step of the way.

The Cornish based team consisted of Joanne Hillman, Natalie Johnson, Martine Hill and Stephanie Saenz who all met whilst working at the Energy Recovery Centre in St Dennis.

‘I am incredibly proud of our team for taking on the challenge and raising money for such an important charity’ said Stephanie Saenz, Key Account Manager at SUEZ ‘we trained ahead of the event and our dedication to making a positive impact in our community, for a charity that is close to many hearts was what kept us going’.

The team raised over £600 towards the £98,000 raised overall at the event this year, which was held in Central Park, Plymouth. The race for life events has raised over £970 million towards lifesaving cancer research since it began 30 years ago.

‘It was so much fun’ said Joanne Hillman, Contract Compliance Officer ‘we now want to push ourselves even further and are on the hunt for a more gruelling course to raise even more money for charity’.
