The day combined careers presentations with hands‑on workshops and one‑to‑one mock interviews led by industry professionals. Students took part in a variety of activities including CV writing sessions, green skills job cards, and personality quizzes all aimed at building confidence and getting them ready for the workplace.

A key highlight of the day was a series of structured 15‑minute mock interviews, giving students valuable insight into recruitment processes and employer expectations. The experience provided a realistic introduction to the world of work and helped learners develop their communication and interview skills.

Participants also had the opportunity to learn more about recycling and the waste industry, with many leaving inspired by the technology involved and the variety of green career pathways available.

Learners noted “The mock interviews were really helpful, and it was great to see the machinery” and that they “loved learning about recycling and how waste is managed safely.”
