Beach clean at Long Rock Beach
Against the dramatic backdrop of St Michael’s Mount, a hardy collection of around 25 volunteers from our Cornwall team completed yet another successful beach clean at Long Rock Beach in Penzance on Saturday 13 November.
This is the sixth beach clean held by SUEZ in Cornwall and we were delighted to see so many volunteers giving up their time to collect litter. Many of the team were joined by friends (two legged and four legged) and family. After scouring the beach we managed to collect seven full black bags of waste, half a pallet and a discarded traffic cone!
The Cornwall team have previously carried out beach cleans at Polzeath, Mawgan Porth and Par beaches.
Senior Community Liaison Manager, Lisa Thompson commented: “I would like to personally thank everyone who came out to support us in our beach cleaning effort. It is so important that we keep our beaches and oceans clean.”
General Manager, Patrick Daws added: “Beaches are such an important part of Cornwall’s natural capital and, as a team, we are very passionate about helping to maintain them in pristine condition and protecting our natural environment.
“Since our pioneering foray over three years ago, beach cleans have become established events in our annual calendar. The Long Rock beach clean was our sixth event, and they continue to grow from strength to strength.
“Thanks again to all of the volunteers for joining us on Saturday morning. Please come and join us at our Spring beach clean coming to a Cornish beach soon !”
